I have tried twice to read this novel. I came to realize that I do not have any interest for the topic nor this type of romance, nor any social analysis of the upper class. It's hard to dislike such a popular book but I must admit it was boring.

The year simply cannot end without me rewatching all the versions (2005 and then 1995 in that order) and then rereading the holy text. Amen.

My first time reading the book and I absolutely loved it! It was not as difficult as I thought it would be and I feel like I got even more out of the themes, character development and inner feelings, and relationship development than I have from the adaptations. I really enjoyed getting to read my favorite scenes! Austen is just as witty and frank as her characters and many ridiculous scenes made me laugh out loud. One of the best love stories ever - can you imagine a man changing his manners, helping your sister from a terrible situation, and helping your other sister get with his friend all after you rejected his marriage proposal because he still loved you so much?? Crazy.
