The plot itself was cute, it was your typical friends to lovers, gay/out for you type of story. My biggest issue was I thought they gave the family a bit too much drama, just for the sake of drama. Mom has MS, and before the story starts, MCs sister was drugged, raped, stabbed, and pregnant as a result, and has now suffered a horrific crash, putting her in a coma, leaving brother to take care of 1 year old niece. And, IMO, there was absolutely NO reason to have the sister a rape victim, because it added nothing to the story. It was simply used as a "she's suffered and made it through so much, and now this!". It just felt unnecessary and gratuitous.
