Gave me the creeps. Normally like thrillers, but this one is DARK and not super well written.

WHY DO YOU KEEP KILLING OFF MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS?

So, I've read a few of the Joe Pickett books in C.J. Box's other series and liked them well enough. They're quick reads in busy times and easy to listen to while riding an exercise bike. I thought I'd try his other series as well. I didn't like the first one, but I thought I'd give the series another chance. Big mistake. I hated this book. It was gruesome. No more in this series. And if the Joe Pickett series turns as dark as this one, I'll stop those as well.

Good cop mystery, interesting twists, pretty gory. It wasn’t a waste of time to read it, but have others I’d recommend ahead of this one.
