Man how the mighty have fallen.  This book pissed me smoothe the f off for a multitude of reasons.

I hate a martyr, I hate the trapped in self-pity trope, I hated the cliffhanger.

The relationships are all splintering in a truly unsatisfying way.  Farron is barely even present in this book.  Wren is despicable. Caspian is still teetering between villain and hero.

This book just annoyed me.

Having said that, the plot still sucks you in and the pace is fast, though this story didn't feel as complete and maybe the ladies had fun writing it but it felt like this was them trying to go dark and none of it landed right.

And how many plot twists can you jam into a final chapter?  They definitely did their best to cram as many as possible but were they all necessary? Eh.  Tue book left me grumpy and actually kind of glad I get to take a break from the series while we wait for book 4.  I'm invested now but annoyed by it.

Why does the cliffhanger have to be so freaking devastating??? Poor Ezryn and poor Caspian. I feel bad for both, though I wonder where the author is going to take this. It fills me with fear for Rosalina, honestly.

This book felt slightly different than the first two. I don't know what it was, it just did.

I still loved it, and can't wait for book four, and finally find out about everything.

But I will not forget what happened to my boy Ez and my boy Dayton, and it needs to be fixed. I can't believe it—I honestly can't.

And also don't trust the new character. Something suspicious about her.

I do agree with some of the other reviews, that this one was very predictable. It still didn't take the fun of reading it away, I loved it.

This series seriously holds a special place in my heart. This book was so good! Ezryn has always been my favorite, so it was nice to see more of him in this book! AND THAT ENDING! Summer 2024 can't get here fast enough!

I received this book as an ARC copy!
