Two absolutely adorable short stories. I had already read the first one as part of the "My true love gave to me" collection, but never read Kindred Spirits.

I remember loving Midnights when I read it the first time. It was just as good the second time around. I'd totally read it if it was a complete novel.

And Kindred Spirits was sweet. I don't think this could have been any longer, it was just the right amount of awesomeness.

I loved all the illustrations throughout, they really brought the stories to life.

This book is everything. Everything.

Rowell proves once again that she knows exactly how to engage her readers. These short stories have extremely vibrant characters that she builds from the ground up in just a few pages. It's inspiring.

There are two short stories. Midnights and Kindred Spirits. They are sweet contemporaries following teen girls and their interesting romances. Both had me craving for more. I need another book from Rowell!

I feel like this is a must read for any fans of hers and also a small glimpse for people curious about her writing style. 100% would recommend.

(Closer to a 3.5 rather than a 4)

Read this on a whim because I was after a nice short read, and it was super cute. Honestly, I totally would have gone for longer versions of each of these stories. While Midnight was adorable but it's Kindred Spirits that really stole my heart, and I would have loved to see where Gabe and Elena went from there.

Even though I’ve read Kindred Spirits before it was not any less enjoyable and there is a review for that separately (it did not stop me from reading it again at all).

Almost Midnight is a short, cute story of how two people came to meet to become best friends and then become a couple all due to it being almost midnight at a New Year’s party in 2011.

In a way you are left to wonder if Mags, a possible shy girl, had not checked out in 2011 to hide outside to eat the snacks to avoid everyone would she have ever spoke to Noel, a more outgoing type? Would they have ever spoken to one another beyond that moment? And if they had not attended the parties each year would their bond be the same, even if they were well enough friends with everyone else there? Well, Noel was. Before Noel, Mags only knew Alicia.

In a few pages we’re able to see how a friendship grew into a budding romance. Yes, I want more because I adore Rowell’s writing style. I need more about Mags and Noel. I need to know they are happy. I want to know the little tidbits of their lives because it is learned they do EVERYTHING together. So, it is without much else I loved Almost Midnight.

I'm so lucky to be an Official UK Fangirl. Literally.

I've read both Short stories and the illustrations just make the stories feel more real. These aren't characters but people you're friends with. Rainbow does cute romance so well, they give you the feelings.

This was a very cute short read. Midnights was adorable and I always love a good friends to lovers story. The second story was about Star Wars fans, which was also really cute and funny. It might be for a slightly younger audience than me, but I still enjoyed it!
