Ok this is my least favorite of the series. This one just didn't hit as hard as the others. That doesn't mean that I didn't like it but it just didn't click with me. I struggled a bit with the story and especially with Dominic. That man pissed me off so many times. What I did LOVE about the book was Alessandra. She is everything and anything a strong FMC shoukd be. She is a powerful, independent, stubborn, confident, strong, witty, and bad**s woman and business woman that just deserves so much love from the audience. Watching her growth and her being able to learn that she has to put  herself first was just *cheff's kiss*. Dominic..... I struggled with him a bit. At the end you can see him being very caring, loving, and thoughful but I needed more from him. Now, flashback Dominic I loved but current Dominic not so much and I think it was because they contradicted each other so much personality wise which made me doubt how the hell he changed so much. Readers can tell that he loves Ale so much but at the same time it is so frustrating because you can see that in the flashbacks but when it moves to current times it's like he forgot (he got used to her being there) that he didn't appreciate it and it was so annoying. The groveling, it didn't hit as hard as maybe Dante's or Kai's BUT that type of groveling doesn't fit Dominic so I get why it was a different type of groveling that the rest. He knows Ale so well and he used that to his advantage which in my opinion was a great addition to the plot and the groveling. His groveling wasn't about doing big gestures or some extravagant declarations because that wasn't what their marriage was lacking in, he just needed to show her that he could put her first above all and that's what he did and that's how he groveled. Their connection was always incredibly strong as well as their love, it was just something of attention (which is completely valid on Ale's side). Throughout the book I was rooting more for Ale than Dominic, but I was glad that they ended in a happy way. The book was just lacking something (i dont know what) that I think would have made it a bit more entertaining because in some points it felt flat or boring. Maybe making the book shorter would have helped move things along more smoothly but that's just my opinion. Overall, I liked the book just not like the others in the series. Would I read it again? Yes

Memorable Quotes
  • "Where is my wife?"
  • "We'd been married exactly one week, two days, and twelve hours, and I still couldn't believe she was mine."
  • "Without her, there was no me."
  • "But there was beautiful, and there was her."
  • "I might not have expressed it as often as I should've, but she'd always been the sun keeping my world in orbit."
  • "You matter," I said. "Always"
  • "You broke my heart, and you weren't even there to witness it." (BROKE ME)
  •  “You touch a single strand of hair on her head,” I said softly. “And there won’t be a place on earth where I won’t hunt you down and kill you so slowly you’ll be begging for death.”
  •  “I loved you so much I lost myself.”
  • "I'd spent my life building an empire, but in that moment, I would've happily dismantled the entire fucking thing if it meant making her smile instead of cry."

I loved it!! Somehow I love Dominic but some part of me just can't forgive him... But I love his character development and I am so happy because we had quite a few scenes with characters from the other books (Jules&Josh,Vivian&Dante,Kai&Isabella) and I love that they have babies and I need more baby scenes I need to see more of Josephine/Josie♡♡♡ And the dark element with Roman. It was so good I think I fell in love with Roman♡♡♡

This book presents two oddly understandable characters who, over the course of their long marriage, grew apart.

Alessandra was an enjoyable character to read about as her journey to re-discover herself was full of the awkward, humbling, challenging, funny, and rewarding experiences people often deal with in their everyday life. It was lovely to see her evolve throughout the book to the point where her happiness was palpable and contagious. What I think can't be let passed by however, is that Dom wasn't the only toxic person in their marriage, Alessandra also was as for a while she was just lettig all of it build up until she exploded and filed for divorce. That I think was another quite realistic part of this book

Dominic was without a doubt frustrating to read about at the beginning of the book, but his dedication to better himself and point out where he went wrong was refreshing to read. What was even better to read about was him finding contentment in his life, whether it was at his job, with Ále, or with himself, seeing him finally be at peace with his current life was the closure the book needed.

The side characters were phenomenal in this book, like Dante and Kai knocking some sense into Dominic, Sloane and her perpetual avail, Vivian and Isabella's never-ending support, or Marcelo's hilarious appearances. Roman's character was also quite interesting and I can't wait to see if he'll be mentioned in other books.

The cameos were everything. Are sure it's JUST a work dinner Sloane??? And Viv and Dante's daughter!!

Overall a very enjoyable read, however I did find it a bit short, I'm very excited for King of Sloth as that one is a book I simply CANNOT wait for. I adore Sloane and Xavier seems like a very entertaining character, as well as very different from other mmc from Ana Huang. Their dynamic is one I'm very intrigued to read about.

Character's choices could be seen as controversial, truly just depends on the reader.

Another good installment in the Kings of Sin series. I thought this second chance romance was done well. I do wish there was a little more groveling. Also if a girl says she needs some space she needs SPACE. This book did pull on the heart strings.

I thought the flashbacks to their relationship over the years was done well. The moments weren't long where you got bored but snippets to get to the point.

i liked this book but dare i say i found it a little boring? i felt like nothing really happened. and i know that i usually go into romance books knowing the characters will end up together but this felt very predictable. BUT three stars because i enjoyed myself and i liked the characters! i’m apparently a simple girl lol

Overall I enjoyed the book while reading it, but theres just so much weird stuff going on.

I just hoped Domenik would have to put more effort into getting her back, while that just doesn't seem to be the case.
Like you fucked up and neglegted your wife for several years and boom, after a few flowers, a little bit of saying shit he didn't mean (or just idk) and flying after her to brazil - wich is defenentely not creepy at all (note the sarcasm) fucking stalker - they are back together.
Which doesn't mean that i didn't like him, wich I surprisingly from time to time did, I just wanted him to grovel like hell or something. It just felt like he didn't have to put in any effort at all. If what he thought would have become reality in the book he would have been a way better character. (His thoughts were also probably the only thing that made me like him)

Allesandra on the other hand, I kind of liked more continuously though the book. I liked that she started to do her own thing and trying to heal.
What I didn't like is that she didn't give Dom the chance to talk to her again after she moved out. I have no problem with the fact that she did that and that she served him the divorce papers, because i think that is what really got through to him and what made him realized he fucked up (kind of bad that he didn't before but ok). But  she just could have let him speak to her atleast, like wtf. That they were divorced thoughout the whole book I feel like could have been easily avoided,
and then it also would have been marriage in crises like how it was advertised everywhere.

Also what was that date thing with
Aiden
? That was so unnecessary.

Additional to that the smut was so weird. Like why was that happening in a
bar bathroom and why was that like the day before he signed the papers.
like whyyy.
And in a later part of the book he was like 'what do you want me to do' (in really deep dark und manly voice) kind of , so he asked her but in the end it was still that he had the full power, AGAIN. Why did you ask if it's not even gonna lead to anything. Then the scene in the library, like why did Ana have to drag Kai and Isabella into this.
Lets just say it could have been such a good slowburn but that got fucked up real quick.

I don't think we even have to dicuss the end.
Because why did they think it was a good idea to bring that Bank plot in there and why with the brother?
They tried to make this a dark romance vibe in the end and it was horrible.

The book had potential but the incompetence was just sooo big, i couldn't deal with it.

I had hopes that i would like this book, like I liked King of Pride, but i ended up developing feelings more similar to the ones I developed for king of Wrath. (non bueno)

I just hope king of sloth will be a less bad execution of a try of dark romance and a less stereotypical bilionare romance but a little bit more of just... good.
