THIS WAS UNSPEAKABLY COOL and the paper collage illustrations were absolutely gorgeous.

Kids are wowed when they compare their own body part with the actual size of the same part of an animal.

For: animal fans; readers looking for an exciting book with facts throughout and illustrations that are all actual size for comparisons.

Possible red flags: some may find a little scary.

The theme had potential, but it was ultimately disappointing.

Great book with actual size of that living things like insect, frog, mammals, squid, anteater, worm. But the book shows us only the biggest or smallest of that kind.

Super cool book - really nice pictures, and very interesting info, ended with a summary of each animal.

I am partial to cut paper collages. This is the second book by Steve Jenkins that I have read, and I find his artwork has so much depth. Other cut-paper artists I enjoy include Christopher Myers and David Wisniewski.

A great nonfiction book for preschoolers -- though older kids would probably enjoy it too.

This is an adorable book that uses an interesting art style to get its point across. The natural world is amazing and, despite the fact that everything looks to be the same size on pictures or on TV, that is far from the truth. Children can put their hand against an image the actual size of a gorilla paw, or go eye to partial-eye with a giant squid.

I'd especially recommend this book before taking a child to a natural museum or a zoo. It can prepare them for the massive scope of the animals they will be seeing.
