I enjoy a lot about Mort - the worldbuilding and exploration of Death is very interesting. However, I'm not a fan of the pacing - some bits felt like it wrapped up abruptly, the scenes would switch at cliffhanger moments, even the conversations felt like they were undergoing constant interruptions, which resulted in a sense of unfulfilled potential despite my overall pleasure in the read.

I had high hopes for this because I love Death every time he shows up in the other books, and this book definitely met my expectations. Every scene with him was pure gold.

I quite liked the rest of this book too (Mort walking through everything solid without realizing it is the best thing). My only complaint is that while the ending was nice,

was a marriage really necessary? And it did seem a bit too deus ex machina, though it’s slightly explained by Death’s slowly changing personality throughout this book.
