It pissed me off that they unveiled what happened to Lilly in half a page. There’s over 400 pages and that’s it? Anticlimactic in my opinion.

I really liked this book!! Thought it was a really good read and I didn’t want to put it down. I would rate this 3.9. I thought the timeline was a little confusing, although it didn’t matter too much for understanding the book but I thought some of the internal interrogation Olivia had about lily was a little underwhelming I guess is the best way to put it.

I gave the book 2.75 stars. The only reason it’s not lower is because it started strong, hooking me in from the beginning. However, around the halfway point, at a crucial twist, it began to unravel. It felt like the story was suddenly forced into addressing numerous societal issues—LBGTQ, transgender, suicide, abuse, abortion, race, bullying, gender roles, feminism even squeezed in a brief mention of a school shooting. This overload detracted from the initially good storyline.

This book didn’t land in my DNF only due to the fact that the beginning was put together so well and as a hobbyist beekeeper myself, I appreciated the well-researched beekeeping elements. Listening to the audiobook saved some time, thankfully. Lily’s character and her narrator became tiresome. The rushed ending crammed in every controversial topic, almost making me feel duped into reading about subjects I wouldn’t typically choose.

Not spoiling plot points just general feelings related to finishing the book
i honestly think this book would have been a 4.5 for me if it weren’t for the last chapter

Loved this book. All the best parts of Jodi Picoult novels, legal drama, murder mystery, intrigue, social drama, plus the beautiful narrative with the bees. Picoult is excellent at writing high school drama and capturing all of the ensuing complicated relationships, and the story of Lily is so tragic.
