I don’t know how Brynn Weaver keeps writing the sweetest, laugh out loud books about serial killers. I don’t think I’ve ever read another book series that has such gross-out scenes paired with such soft, romantic swoon.

I loved Lachlan so much and how gone he was for Lark. Normally I get bored in books when the couple develops feelings for each other so quickly, but I felt there was enough pining here and enough other things going on that I really didn’t mind

I’m very excited for the next book in this series

⭐⭐⭐⭐

This was another enjoyable and unbelievable story in the Ruinous Love series. I didn't love Lark and Lachlan quite as much as Rowan and Sloane, and the first book (Butcher & Blackbird) definitely made me laugh out loud more than this one, but I still stayed up way too late to finish this book.

Weaver's inclusion of the antagonist-crazy-religious-murderer's POV was well done and felt like a starkly different voice, a problem I found with the main characters' POVs. I had to stop multiple times to double-check whose POV I was reading from because they were extremely similar.

Like with Butcher & Blackbird, to enjoy this book requires a fair amount of suspension of understanding how reality works, especially in terms of forensics, investigations, security, ...craft supplies and industrial ovens. But it was still a fun read, I will definitely read the third book in this trilogy and probably whatever else Brynne Weaver comes up with, and I give it a solid 4 stars.

Sexy
Dark
Less funny than first but still super good/enjoyable
More focused on the romance than the comedy
