We're always on the look out for picture books aimed at the slightly older reader so we were very pleased to find this book.

The Seven Sisters is a beautifully illustrated story of seven very different girls who live in the treetops. Saffah loves music, Zoha enjoys being amongst plants and animals, Lola is an artist and Amelia is a gymnast.

When a new tree emerges in the forest they all fight over it believing they are too different to live together. When a storm comes they are forced to work together to rebuild and they start to celebrate each others differences and learn to work together.
This is quite a long story at 60+ pages but my daughter read it from cover to cover in one sitting. She loved the detailed full colour illustrations on each page and was keen to find out what would happen to the big tree.

This would be a great story to introduce diversity and inclusion in a primary classroom as well as a lovely bedtime story.

I love this quote from the book -
"They wrote and painted on the walls of their new, big tree house, to show the ups and the downs, the good and the bad. Because time will pass, people and things come and go, but stories always live on."

This is a beautiful story about nurturing independent spirit and learning to cooperate with others. Stunning illustrations as well.
