So intensely readable ahh. I am shelving it as a romance but it is more like a mystery with a bit of kissing sometimes. It was really so excellent I didn't want to put it down at any point and I have full intention of reading the next book. It reminds me of the tone of something like Grantchester and that can only be a good thing.

This series has a lot to offer: adventure, mystery, romance, historical charm, a bit of a Holmes-and-Watson flavor if you squint-- but you have to enjoy the smut in order to enjoy the books. If that's your cup of tea, then I highly recommend them as the best of their kind.

I do like a gay period romance. While it's nothing groundbreaking and is fairly predictable from the mystery angle, I found it a quick and enjoyable read.

A thoroughly fun romp - I found myself really drawn to Will, the main character, and the many misfortunes that fall upon him. His relationship with Kim is fascinating and I can’t wait to read more about the two of them! The mystery was enjoyable, the witty banter between Will and Kim was delightful, and I don’t know about y’all but I LOVE a capable main lead. Onto the sequel!

What a fun time!!!!  I got very strong "Tommy and Tuppence" vibes, and that's always a good thing.

I love these characters and their relationships, and the story is so well thought out. I really liked the complex views of war and post-war life, and how everyone deals with those things differently. Social commentary in a queer espionage trench coat 🙌🏻
