I absolutely LOVE this book! This is my 2nd time reading it, & I swear it was even better the 2nd time around.
Alex & Henry are just sooooo adorable it’s annoying! Lol rereading the "hate" between them at the beginning knowing what I know about the rest of the book, was just soo much more enlightening!
I cannot recommend this book enough!! And I’m so excited for the movie adaptation, they better not fuck it up for me!!

After the last book I low key hated I kinda needed something to fix my reading mood so I grabbed this (lol reading this while the coronation of a new british king was happening was lowkey funny). It's lighthearted fun. I don't feel i will be obsessed with it like the others. Will not think it to be top 10 best lgbt books or anything. The comparisons to Young Royals now feel a bit insulting to young royals since I feel like they've been handling the topic better. Like it's clearly a book that's written in reaction to 2016 election. If it was straight I would call it trashy romance book but of course because it's gay that's a level that elevates it.  I enjoyed it a lot but just don't consider it some great quality of writing.
In any case it did it's job. It did what it was supposed to do

I liked this book more than Shara Wheeler but less than One Last Stop. I feel like the first 50% was long distance, time passing, lots of sex. The next 35% was homophobia and racism (not on the authors part that I can see but just from the contents of the story) and the last 15% were inspirational and emotional and uplifting moments. I think they did an excellent job fleshing out their characters as always and the story itself was fun and I’ve never read anything like it before but it just wasn’t quite for me. Also I don’t think Casey should have written from the perspective of a Mexican American individual.

Red, White, and Royal Blue is one of the best books I've read recently. It was joyful and funny while also managing to be emotional and tense. I would recommend this book to anyone I know, though a word of warning: this is not a young adult book, so be prepared for some not young adult scenes. I loved them, but the cover and story might not convey that if you don't do your research. As the author states in the acknowledgements, this book is meant to be an escape to another world that could have been to give you hope for what could be one day for the real world too. I wholeheartedly felt that, and I hope you enjoy the story just as much as I did.

Listened to this on Audible and didn't regret it. The narrator was funny and did a great job at characterizing all the different voices, and it made the story more fun.

The buildup towards the relationship between Alex and Henry is what really drew me in and was my favorite part of this book. It was funny, cute, and had my whole body clenching when things finally started going down. Absolutely loved it, but will say that after they get together and the tension seemed to lessen, I lost interest a little and I felt it get kinda corny.

Nevertheless, I was happy with the story and loved the happy ending. Gave me hope and was heartwarming to know that the gays win this one :,) The sad and tragic gay story trope is TIRED and this did the gays justice for sure. I had fun :^)

Shoutout to Meesh for the recommendation!
