Alex and Henry's story was charming. It's unfortunate their personal relationship didn't get more time on the page. On one hand it makes sense. A large portion of the book focuses on politics since it's a central part of their lives. On the other, the story was billed as a romance.

I knew I was going to love this book from the time I first read the back cover. An enemies to lovers romance between the First Son of the United States and the Prince of England? Count me in! I caved and watched the movie with my roommate way back in September and instantly fell in love, going out to buy the book immediately afterwards. It took me awhile to finally get around to reading it, but once I finally had time to sit down and read this book, I tore through 95 percent of it in a three-day span. This book was everything I hoped it would be and more. It had me laughing, aching, and kept me up half the night two days in a row because I was so invested. The themes of finding your identity and learning to balance emotions were strong in this one, and I truly loved watching this story unravel page by page. This was a true page turner that took me down an emotional roller coaster, and Alex and Henry's story will stick with me for a long time. One of my favorite books ever!

This book made me laugh and cry more than I expected it would. The characters are lovable and very real. The relationships they have with each other feel equally as real. The book starts off as a hilarious slice-of-life and very quickly becomes an emotional romantic rollercoaster with a healthy side of red-string-on-a-corkboard politics. Both moods of the story are fantastic. The only thing I didn’t love about this book was how long the chapters were; rarely was I able to read an entire chapter in one sitting. But the story flows well enough that it doesn’t really matter. I honestly just had a really great time reading this book. I went in with no expectations and before I was finished I knew it was getting five stars. Even just for Alex’s incredibly judgy metaphors about European politics and Henry’s equally creative clapbacks about American government in the first few chapters.

Alex, the son of the first female president, finds himself ordered to fake a friendship with Prince Henry of England after causing a minor international scandal. Despite their petty differences, Alex eventually finds Henry as a friend who understands what is like to grow up as the child international leaders, and soon sparks fly. It doesn't take much for problems to arise when the first son begins a clandistine relationship with a foreign prince. Defintely a fun read for anyone looking for a queer romance!

A really nice story.
Characters are well developed and I liked them all even though they aren't all perfect or good.
Reminds me alot of Heart stopper in terms of the slow start to the romance and the texts and emails.
Some of the references date this book which is a shame, but I really enjoyed reading about the relationships and the drama.

The book started well, but it started to drag at a certain point and I felt there was a bit too much romance and torrid scenes to my taste, while I hoped for the story to develop further... it kind of stretched more than necessary and I lost interest. So it took me longer to finish than it should have. But then it picked up again and I ended up enjoying a little bit more by the end. Alex and Henry make a cute couple and the book does a great job in normalizing a gay relationship. But I did not fully enjoy the writing, so I'm giving it only 3 stars. The movie by Amazon is cute too, and even though they have simply eliminated several characters and changed some of the stories, the dialogues were pretty much aligned with the book, so it was nice to watch.
