I've been dying to read this since the first book came out, and Fevered Star did not disappoint! I am absolutely fascinated by the world that Rebecca Roanhorse has crafted in the Between Earth and Sky trilogy, and honestly all I want is more, more, more.
Fevered Star takes readers back to the Meridian and picks up right where Black Sun left off, continuing the stories of Naranpa, Serapio, and Xiala, while introducing some new characters to the ever-increasing intrigue. Roanhorse is a master of dramatic irony, and it hurt SO MUCH to know things that were happening that the other characters didn't know--or to know that two characters had just barely missed meeting. Ugh! My heart!
I feel like this book went by way too quickly, and I can't believe I have to wait AGAIN for the third one. I'm certain it's going to be worth it, though!
A word to readers who, like me, have trouble remembering the plots of books: I reread Black Sun right before I read Fevered Star, and I felt like I had a lot clearer idea of what was going on because of that. Roanhorse doesn't do a lot of retreading of old ground, which I really appreciate in a fantasy novel, personally, so it was nice to have just read the first book to have the story fresh in my mind.
Thanks to NetGalley, Saga Press, and Rebecca Roanhorse for the eARC of this book, provided in exchange for a review.

Franchement meilleur que le premier à mon sens. Les personnages sont beaucoup plus nuancés et l'aspect mythologique/magique prend plus d'ampleur ici

I felt like this book was a little too much of a “filler” book. Everyone was spread out and I wasn’t as intensely connected to this one like I was the first. I only really loved Naranpa’s point of view in this one. I am looking forward to the third book.
While everything in this story publically available says this is part 2/2 I sure hope the story continues. I love most of these characters (some are sort of flat but that's okay since the cast is pretty vast). The political drama is interesting and considering the setting it is just far enough away from our current time sensibilities to keep me guessing. I think we will see a part 3 once Rebecca Roanhorse finds the will to return to this world. I know from all I've read (and the acknowledgements) that the story was difficult for them to process and push through considering COVID and the isolation therein. Great continuation of the story though, I'm a big fan.

Fevered Star is another epic tale in Roanhorse's breathtaking world. Rarely do I read a book where I feel so strongly for all the characters even when they're on opposing sides of a conflict. They all have such clearly defined depth, individuality, and personal drive.
I think in my review for Black Sun, I neglected to mention how absolutely thrilled I was to have non-binary characters and queer relationships represented. I was just as delighted by this fact with Fevered Star.
Absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on Mirrored Heavens and see how this brilliant story plays out.

I really like these characters and I am excited to read the next book. This one did feel a bit slow in parts, but I still read it within 2 days.

This book was harder to get into than the first one in the series for me. I did eventually, and I'm glad I stuck with it, I enjoyed seeing where the story is going and reuniting with the characters.
