This was a fun follow up book in Roanhorse’s series. We got to explore some new characters and relationships that were well developed, and I enjoyed the politics and further exploration of the world. I continued to love Xiala’s sections; however, her love of Serapio and how it drove her decisions didn’t feel fitting with her character. On top of that, while her plot twist was interesting, it was disappointing that Roanhorse chose to make her propensity for falling madly in love with men a core part of her character. Nerampa showed zero character growth as far as I could tell and continued to be incredibly naive, spoiled, annoying, and entirely undeserving of her role and love from other characters. Nerampa’s decisions at the end didn’t make much sense, but I’m curious to see where the next book takes us.

I can’t decide between 3.5 or 4 for this one. I enjoyed the story but not as much as Black Sun. Fevered Star feels like it’s setting us up for book three. Things happen but nothing unpredictable.

4.5 Stars for me! I definitely liked the first one better, as this one I believe was setting a lot up for the third and final book, but still couldn’t put this one down! I’m a sucker for a multi pov story and can’t wait to see how everything concludes in the final book. Really loving this world and all of the characters I don’t want it to come to an end :/
