Goodreads says that I started this book last July which is forever ago. That's just not true... I started this book like 3 years ago and I just finished it. In fact I read "listened" to the whole thing again because I couldn't remember where I was last time.
How's that for getting shit done?
The ideas and best practices of this book seem like great ideas. Although, with how long it took me to actually read the darn thing I have fears that I will probably never use them.
Here is to hopefully proving my self wrong.

I should re-read this now that I have better electronic options ... I'm not an executive, so I don't use all the techniques. But it's very very helpful.
I read this book many years ago and took away a few key concepts and ideas. After re-reading, those key concepts and ideas were strengthened, but I also found new ideas and concepts. I have a better understanding of the processes as a whole and have learned some new techniques for staying organized and productive. There's a reason this book is so well known, quoted, and respected.
Updated 2021: having re-re-read this book, I was able to pick out a few more ideas as well as brush up on things I've let fall by the wayside. I've never done 100% GTD system, but a good portion of my productivity process pulls from this book/method.

Worth a reread, really
Yes, TheDavid’s work has the necessary character of the business environment he developed and sold much of this thinking into. And it does carry lots of common sense elements most of us carry. But at the same time, he integrates and catalyzes a lot of experience and examples that can making thinking and planning more visceral and beneficial. Tips re-emerge anew, structures make different sense than before, and buzzwords...remain.

Though this is geared more toward business professionals, there are a lot of excellent tips and strategies in this book to help anyone unclutter their life and move forward and get stuff done.
I wasn't able to finish this one--but I did get some nice tips from the the pages that I did read. The two minute rule has really helped me with my email anxiety. The rule is that if you can do it in two minutes, do it now. I also appreciated the whole idea of the value of writing things down to get it out of your cognitive load. It's helped my various projects feel more doable and improved my relaxation times.
read a few years ago.
in paper and on audio!
ALWAYS awesome and inspiring!

I had a really hard time staying awake to read this. The idea is great - I definitely do want to incorporate the method described into my life and am already finding positive results as I start to do so. However, it was really hard to read with all the quotes slammed in the middle of pages, and his language would put me to sleep as I tried to understand the method. I would read it again someday to better understand and use the methods, as he suggests, but I'll probably go with the cheater "here's the bullet points" version in order to stay awake.
