I am not sure if I read the same book as others. Why did I hate it so much?

There is some strong character development, I have to give this book that one. 

There was an attempt at writing a great book about mental health. Attempt. It almost felt like there was this toxic positivity. I did not enjoy this at all and I remember being so bored with this book. Maybe this just wasn't my cup of tea. Maybe this was just a bad book. I think this mental health awareness that was going on in this book was just not meant for everyone. I did not understand how anyone could find comfort in this or find it relatable. I'm sure it helps some people or others like this, just.. I find it way too overhyped and I fell asleep twice reading this. Maybe not my cup of tea. Now, how do I unread this?

This book punched me in the gut but it was so worth it. I had a difficult time with some of the family tropes and children as salve for the soul, but the reflections on that particular life redeemed me and I've take back the eye rolling. Sorta.
What a fun read.

this was good, and i can definitely understand why so many people have loved it, but it was a bit too existential for me i think. i'm not a massive fan of 'butterfly effect' type stories to begin with so it was probably never going to be a massive hit for me, but i enjoyed the writing and it was a nice quick read with some lovely lessons about appreciating what you have and not taking anyone or anything for granted.

I waited to read this one. I was hesitant. I love stories about books and libraries... this was different. It was a dark theme (mental health, suicide, substance abuse, terminal illness) which I think the point of the book was about how life can change from dark places and changing perspectives. It was alright, I am not sure if I'd read it again.  I'll wait and see, the only other books of Matt Haigs I have read were children's books and so I think it could also be the shock of different genres of writing (kid vs adult, light-hearted vs heavy topic)
