As an anxiety/depression-haver, this book just started to feel too real. A good problem, I guess because maybe then people will understand how hard all of this can be to navigate. But the spirals were becoming visceral (even though my triggers are different) and I just can’t power through right now. It’s solid evidence though of how wonderful of a writer John Green is - you’ll feel the feels, just be on the watch that they don’t overwhelm ❤️

I honestly don’t know what to think about this book. It was boring, but interesting enough to keep me reading till the end. Though, I still wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.

“Anybody can look at you. It’s quite rare to find someone who sees the same world as you.”He captures what felt so intense at the time that I felt like I time traveled back to high school experiencing my first crush.

Oh. Wow. This is an amazing book. John Green has done it again.

As someone who has researched OCD and anxiety disorders a lot (maybe slightly obsessively), and as someone who likely has an anxiety disorder themselves, it is so satisfying to see a clear representation of intrusive thoughts, obsessions/compulsions, and mental illness.

Along with the gorgeous representation, the quotes that John Green has written are just *chef's kiss*.

“You remember your first love because they show you, prove to you, that you can love and be loved, that nothing in this world is deserved except for love, that love is both how you become a person and why.”

When I read that paragraph, it made me cry. Because it's true. No matter how much it hurts, your first love shows you how important it is to be loved, whether romantic or not.

There are so many beautiful moments, so many scenes that just felt right . So many words clumped together that made me feel seen. That gave me hope. That made me laugh. That broke my little broken heart.

Spoiler The biggest plot twist in my mind was when the first line of the book made sense. I was reading about a fictional story, as though it was real. I was in the mind of a fictional character that didn't know if she was real or not; who didn't know if she truly had free will.
John Green was her author. He was the one who created her.
In that sense, maybe we all are just written in the stars by someone far greater than us, or far smaller (gut-bacteria thingy-mo-bobber).

Hopefully that made sense haha.

In conclusion, I recommend this book to everyone, whether you or your loved ones struggle with mental illness.

Spoiler Also, don't drink hand sanitizer.
