This was a good story which took me by surprise. Once again Lauren Oliver leaves you with a gut wrenching end that leaves you a little sad. I enjoyed the book because it was a nice change to a mystery almost adult like book. I just felt bad for Nick and especially Dara. Teaches us a lot about perception and about always remembering to cherish the moments we have with our loved ones- because one minute they're here and the next they're not.

true, i felt like the mystery part was kinda lacking, but talk about one hell of a plot twist. five stars just for that

Very good quick read. First time reading from this author and the book was hard to put down.

Really? REALLY? So much potential, and THAT was the conclusion?!

"The reviews are probably over exaggerating about how obvious it was" I said
"You probably won't figure out the ending, Shilo" I said
"Come on, it can't be THAT bad" I said

I did indeed figure out the ending. It was indeed that bad. I hated the conclusion to the Madeline Snow mystery. I hated that if you have read any kind of book like this, you'll see the 'twist' coming from a mile away. I hate that I read this book when I could have read something else. I'm torn in the rating; I want to give it two stars because I kept reading because I was curious about what happened to Madeline Snow and what was going on with her sister, but I want to give it one star because I hated the ending so much.

What an addictive story with a complex sibling relationship at the heart of it. Great stuff.

Oooh.. ceritanya berbeda jauh dari bayanganku. Hahaha..
Yah, terlepas dari semua itu, buku ini cukup bagus. Nyatanya aku enjoy-enjoy saja membacanya. Konfliknya lumayan menarik walaupun penyelesaiannya cenderung agak datar dan tidak mengejutkan.

Kalau kalian pernah membaca buku "We Were Liars" kemungkinan suka buku ini. Vibe-nya mirip lah.

It was a page turner until the end, when I was just annoyed with the outcome. It had a "We Were Liars" feel to it.

I was so excited many months ago when I had heard [a:Lauren Oliver|2936493|Lauren Oliver|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1416335442p2/2936493.jpg] would be coming out with another standalone novel and shelved it immediately. I was even more intrigued by the beautiful and mysterious cover when it was finally revealed. Before I Fall is one of my favorite books and none of her recent novels has had the same resounding affect on me like that novel did, but this one actually came close.
The story follows the relationship of two sisters, close in age, Nicole (or Nick as she goes by) and Dara Warren, and their lives before and after an accident that occurs only a few chapters in to the novel. The story follows their relationship which is strained a lot of the time because they’re very much light and dark in personality. Amidst the unearthing of their lives pre and post accident a nine year-old local girl goes missing and the sisters find themselves caught up in the case along with the rest of their small town.
This novel pulled me in right away and I was swept in by the voices of each character. Being a psychological thriller, every time you read and learned something new it still left your mind turning and questioning where the story was going to take you. I especially loved how this novel makes you appreciate the bond between sisters because it made me think of my younger sister and how close we are, somewhat similar to that of Nick and Dara. The only thing that I really could have done without was the pictures that were included in the book. I didn’t think it added anything in particular to the story and was thrown off by them a lot of the time because they seemed to be placed in weird spots that didn’t exactly correlate to the area it was meant for in the story.
Now, a lot of reviews talk about the plot twist towards the end. Some say it was crazy, others say it was predictable. I love psychological thrillers, but tend to be let down a lot of the time because I too often pick up on the subtle hints (which were very nicely thrown in by Oliver) and figure out where it’s going to end up quickly. In part because of my detective Scorpio mind and because I stupidly read the table of contents on my Kindle (be warned don’t do this!!) I figured out the major twist pretty early on. In spite of this I was still constantly looking forward to the next page to find out every secret and exactly how everything would pan out.
If you’re new to Oliver, a long time fan or a fan who is questioning your allegiance because nothing is quite living up to Before I Fall, give this novel a try. Even if you figure out the plot twist I think you will find it’s a wonderful and thrilling read.

Wow. Thought this was a fairly typical psychological thriller until the twist. Completely excellent novel and at this point, I am officially a Lauren Oliver fangirl.

I. Am. So. Confused.
