Miserably bad. It starts off fine, but the author totally loses the thread of her worldbuilding & magic rules early in the climax of the book. It's hard to concentrate, or even follow the story and feel like you're not super high, when the characters start reacting to events in a way that makes no sense and has no relationship to what you've learned as the "rules" of the setting. I'm not even saying anyone was over-powered, I'm saying I felt like the reality of the book was unraveling because suddenly everyone was acting in a fundamentally nonsensical way.

I hated it.
