It’s definitely a story that will kelp you glued to the book. Overall, I had to round down from a 4, only because I think the story was a little simple in its writing. It was very interesting how the author was able to sew in the Amish culture and language, which made it a fresh story for me.

In the 8th book in the Kate Burkholder Series by Linda Castillo,  Kate is asked to go undercover in NY in an Amish community.  An Amish girl has been found dead, and the English cops can't get any Amish to talk to them.  Their solution: Kate Burkholder.   Kate is the Police Chief of Planters Mill, Ohio, but more importantly, she grew up Amish. Could Kate be walking into a more dangerous situation than either her or the NY State Police thought?  This was a different story than usual.  There isn't blood and gore (not that Castillo's books have a lot of it, but if you have read this series,  you know what I mean) like in the others.

Linda Castillo continues to grow the character of Kate Burkholder.  I wonder, though, if Kate will ever grow out of being reckless sometimes.  I hope Castillo never does that with her character because I think it would take away from the story as well as Kate Burkholder's character.

These could be read as stand-alones, but it would be better if read in order.   If you enjoy Police Procedural books, you will probably enjoy the Kate Burkholder Series by Linda Castillo.
