Should be required reading in schools. Very prophetic to read 25-something years later, especially in the anti-science climate we live in now, which has very deep roots.
Excellent treatise on superstition vs. science. Sagan was always my fave and he nails it in this book. I love how he breaks down religious figures and their visions and what they were theoretically.

The tone in this book is trash. So condescending and this is coming from someone who literally studies physics. I have no idea who the audience is supposed to be for this book. The pace is a snoozefest and he repeats the same central thesis over and over and over. If you're interested in science, pick up something more modern as this is quite out of date. If you're interested in reading about how propaganda and religion have been used to control and con people, there are other books that tell this story in a much more compelling way.
