Clueless meets Mean Girls meets a really bad trip, I could not put this down. Compulsive, claustrophobic, compelling and downright bizarre. I loved it.

It’s so unexpected, so different from anything I’ve ever read. It is pure imagination. One of those books that you have to unpack and unpack and unpack to see that all along, there were bits and pieces hiding in plain sight. The recurring themes and the ode to Alice in Wonderland in a university setting that makes you wonder what’s real and what’s not. But I think the strongest thing that stuck with me was this
How did Mona Awad even pitch this to her agents? It’s so ludicrous that it’s genius. I can’t not give it a five stars, not because of how it made me feel or that I related with any depth to any part of the story, but because of the sheer magnitude of the creation of this story. As you are reading you are falling down down down the rabbit hole, but you’re not even sure if you’re in the rabbit hole. It’s absurd and brilliant and I can’t think of anyone to compare Awad to. I would even say this is the kind of book teenagers should be studying from in English class with it’s string of references and comparisons, with its unique ability to put you directly into someone’s mind. Bizarre and thrilling, and not in a normal way.
Graphic: Abandonment
Moderate: Murder, Sexual assault, and Self harm

to anyone reading this - i am extending an open invite for someone to explain what i just read because i have no idea!
ive tried googling explanations and they seem to come out of nowhere.... like the plot twist felt like it came from left field.
the first third of the book i enjoyed! i loved seeing the personalities of the bunny's and how samantha falls deeper and deeper into their "cult". but around part 3 of this book i feel like it just begins throwing shit at the wall and praying something sticks. like im still so confused.
ive seen people saying the ritual aspect and supernatural themes were metaphors but i don't understand how... and people are saying samantha is unreliable? how? like after the third part i see how but.. there's not any hints to show that to me.
ive never been more confused about a book in my life. i still feel like so much is left unexplained to the point there's not really a point, and instead there is no "deeper meaning" to whatever i just spent 373 pages reading.
i just borrowed rouge from my library and im hoping my issue is isolated to this book and isn't a symptom of awad's work because i did not enjoy the ending! im so serious if this was more mystery novel rather than what it was i could see this being a 4-star but as it is... im so fucking lost
