What starts as a cross between Heathers and Dead Poets Society with Daria-esque characters, turns into a  mind-twisting tale where you’re not quite sure if you’re in a waking nightmare or not. Samantha’s unfortunate family life and outsider-ness lends itself to the underlying theme of “if you could create the perfect companion, would everything really be fixed?” 
There’s so much to this book. I think I’ll revisit it. This feels like a Donnie Darko rewatch where you’ll find something new on each read.

oooo I liked this book a lot!! There were a few moments I got confused but I thoroughly enjoyed those moments as much as any others. I like a book that you want to google immediately after and see how others interpret it. I still have a lot of questions to ask and points to ponder/process from it!

I don't even know where to begin with Bunny. I loved it. It was weird and funny and dark and surprising, and Mona Awad is a brilliant writer. I need to read more of her work.

Sometimes books that satirize the pretentiousness of academia end up coming across as, well, pretentious. But Bunny is funny and unhinged, and it doesn't feel elitist, even though Awad is clearly very clever. I can see why this one wouldn't work for everyone, but I devoured it.
