Semi-unpopular opinion: I wanted this entire book to be in Darrow's pov. Not a fan of 1st person pov, however, I am a fan of Darrow. And only Darrow, it seems. Each time I was reading someone else's, I would go to the TBC and count the chapters until his.

Definitely felt a bit broken-backed under its own weight. 

I love the new characters but Iron Gold suffered from poor pacing and some various cliche action scenes. I also feel that Pierce could use some work on his character voice.

It’s kinda weird that the first book of the original trilogy and the first book of the sequel series seem to be the weakest of the lot, but the book leaves off in an interesting position. I’m looking forward to reading what comes next!

Honestly, I just got so bored. I tried to challenge myself to finish the series and should have known better when I felt the first few in the series were just "okay".
