I read this book when I was a little kid, but then forgot the name and only rediscovered it recently after asking about it online. It's a lot different than I remembered. I thought it was a post-apocalyptic sci-fi in the style of Indiana Jones but with modern technology in the place of ancient artifacts. It turns out the book is a magical fantasy with wizards. I don't know how I misremembered it so bad. But the book was still pretty good!

The plotting and world here are interesting but this book ended up being pretty mediocre. Pretty good, but not great. Needs better character development.

Really awkward writing style. It was a forced effort to get through this.

The world of Anara is no longer safe for members of the Order, as the Watch are hunting them down because of their powers. Master of the Order Galen and his apprentice Raffi are on the hunt for a powerful object they hope will help Galen regain the power he lost after an accident. Yet nothing and no one is what they seem as they journey towards the dark city of Tasceron.

This is the first book in a four part series, with a book being published every month this summer. The world is a little hard to understand, but the story is compelling and the characters are well-developed.

I picked this up from the public library, started reading, and couldn't put it down. I finished it in two days. I was impressed with the layers of the world and the historical depth it had.

I loved the characters. They all had their eccentricities. The main female character (her name I cannot remember right now) started out on the wrong side but soon had her eyes opened.

An awesome series.

Classic fantasy, with a planet being colonized in the past. The "relics" or technology left behind causes much chaos on the planet as well legends involving "The Makers" and "The Crow"
