I love this trilogy so much and especially this last book captures so much more of Katniss’s mental instability and hopelessness than the movies do.

3 stars because I cannot reward what happened in the sewers, nor the amount of page time Gale got

I think it took me so long to finish this book because I literally didn't want it to be over. The last two pages and the epilogue were what I was yearning the most since the first book and I love the way it turned out. I am really sad about some characters not making it to the end and how their deaths consisted in like a single paragraph and I don't feel entirely happy about it, but it is what it is and the rest of the book makes up for it. I do think it left a few questions unanswered about for example Johanna and Annie's whereaboits and I didn't quite understand if the photo of Annie and Finnick's newborn was part of their dream or if Annie was actually pregnant during the events of the war but it's really something minor that, even though it's not that important, you do feel the desire to know how they ended up. Overall good book and I think this climbed all the way up to number one in favorite series. 4.75 stars.

“We are in that sweet period where everyone agrees that our recent horrors should never be repeated…but collective thinking is usually short lived. We are fickle, stupid beings with poor memories and a great gift for self-destruction” 379

Too real.

Anyone who tried to tell me Katniss was acting out of character in this book owes me $10. I was openly weeping for the whole final quarter.

Another really violent (for a kids book) installation in this series. It wraps everything up nicely, but I still think that I liked the first book in the series better than the sequels. It has the best shock value, and the most sympathetic characters. IMHO, anyway.

I'm sure it's written well and all that, but I just couldn't get that excited about the story.
Oh well :)
