I haven't read anything this delightful in ages. It has a few historical inaccuracies and Americanisms™ that irked me, but it didn't put me off too much. Maybe it felt so inaccurate because my brain kept setting it in the Regency rather than 1883.

DNF at 37% because I don't quite care about it? I feel like it would be a 3 star at best, but the characters just seem to do whatever is most convenient for the plot rather than behaving consistently, and a lot of them are blurring together.

Book.
I loved the characters, the tension, the world building. And the prose. Some paragraphs are so beautiful. The love story nearly made me cry. A new forever fav I’m sure I’ll return to as Charlie returned to his favorites.
