I had fun. Would have read a couple of hundred pages more. That's a success in my book.

4.25 / 5
Going into The Gentleman's Book of Vices, I tried to have an open mind. The average rating is relatively low for Goodreads standards, and I've read a handful of books with a similar title already, so I wondered if this one would rise up to the bar the others have set for me (The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue, The Secret Lives of Country Gentlemen, etc). To be honest: it absolutely did rise up to it, and I had a great time.
Within the first 50 pages, I was suspecting that this book might actually be a solid five stars - the set up was intriguing, the writing was good, and I was really enjoying the main characters. Somewhere along the way, though, it sort of lost some steam - but not in the main relationship. I truly loved these two guys together; the way the romance unfolded, the tender moments they shared - it made for a very lovely read. I think I'm a sucker for bookstore owners, broody love interests, and walking disasters that are main characters. I'd definitely recommend for anyone looking for a quick and light historical romance.
