Struggled with the writing style but will come back to it at a later date.

Upon hearing that the source material was very different after seeing the film adaptation of this book, I was intrigued to check it out; it turns out that I needn't have bothered. The story here is presented from three different perspectives and the book as a result is confusing as well as dull, and I never engaged with the humor amidst the horror. I didn't love the movie, but it gave me a concise story within a shorter timespan where I could at the very least appreciate its craft. I have better things to do than trudge on with this.

Can't wait to see the film

I ran out of time on my first audiobook loan, and then when it came back around, two others came in that I want to devote time to much more.

This is just too grim, too much, too abhorrent. I picked this up in anticipation of watching the Oscar-winning film, but upon learning that the film is based on completely different characters, can’t see reason enough to finish. It’s hard to listen to such a long Holocaust narrative from the perspective of Nazi officers. I gave it a shot, but I don’t think it’s something I’m interested in further absorbing right now.

I felt like I was trying to watch splashed water flow down the wall while reading this book. Every 5 minutes i felt I missed something, but no, that's the convoluted plot of the book that is semultaneously all over the place and in which nothing really happens.

Starts out well but becomes convoluted in its narration and structure. Past the halfway mark it did become a bit of a chore to keep up with its wandering, and ultimately I found it disappointing in comparison to Glazer’s film.
