I loved this beautiful account of such a special journey. For something so difficult for us as humans here on Earth to comprehend and understand, the innocent and simple perspective of a child is a heart warming and encouraging one. This is definitely a book I will keep on my shelf.

At a time where I'm having a hard time in life, this is just what I needed. I actually picked it up because I was bored and my sister had it lying around. I was done with it a couple hours later.... Colton's story comes in a call it like you see it way that only children have. If you've ever talked to a four year old, you'll know exactly what I mean. I haven't read the Bible, so I couldn't tell you if all the things that he described are fact, but I can tell you that reading this little boys account of what he experienced has restored my faith. I've always been a believer, but my faith has wavered. This is a touching and amazing story. And having a faith in something can't be a bad thing right?

Don't know why I would give this anything less than 5 stars...a book I would assume everyone should read.

I thought it was a decent read, however I do wish that the father, Todd, had focused more on the family dynamics (what it was like to raise a child who experienced Heaven, how Colton adjusted after his surgery, etc.) vs. "overkilling" us on the parallels between what Colton experienced and how it PERFECTLY aligns with scripture. I found it interesting, however I just wish it was more multi-dimensional.

{my thoughts} – This book is truly astounding. It is also a must read for any Christian Believer. The innocence of a child is something that is often overlooked by many adults and this book brings that into a whole new prospective. I laughed, I cried and I was in awe throughout this whole book. I enjoyed reading about the conversations with young Colton as well as the Bible References in which Todd had used to back up everything that his son had been saying. IT truly brings the whole Heaven, God, Holy Spirit and the concept of time for that matter into another light. It amazes me that with all the Bible reading I have done, all the sermons I have attended in that past, that most of the things this child had come up to his parents and said, I honestly had no clue what they were. I enjoy reading my Bible from time to time but I tend to stay away from the book of Revelations because well it’s confusing to me, but this child was saying things straight out of that book of the Bible and he was saying them factual. It just well it blows my mind. Also, the other little girl mentioned in the book that had similar experiences as young Colton. That absolutely astounded me. I look forward to seeing the movie that is being made in regards to this book in the very near future!

what a beautiful story! loved it very much! I am a Christian that believes in heaven and hell but this book coming from a little book was just awesome. loved it!

In the book Heaven Is For Real, Todd Burpo relates the story of his four-year old son's trip to heaven and back. Burpo writes in a casual tone, often quoting the words of the four-year old, named Colton, which gives the book an emotional appeal. The reader will feel the anxiety of the Burpo family as they nearly lose their son, and will later feel their relief when they discover their son has fully recovered from his near death experience. Readers will also feel touched by the simple descriptions of heaven offered throughout this book.

Through this book, which Todd Burpo (a small-town pastor) says he was called to publish from God, the Burpo family reaches out to Christians who may experience doubt in their faith from time to time. The stories told by Colton are authenticated by quotes from scriptures that Burpo provides within the novel; this leaves little doubt that Colton's story is true. For example, Colton tells his family that Jesus has "red markers" in both his palms and his feet where he was nailed to the crucifix, which the four-year old Protestant boy was never taught and had no way of knowing.(67) He also tells his father that in heaven "We flew. Well, all except for Jesus. He was the only one in heaven who didn't have wings. Jesus just went up and down like an elevator." (72) Todd Burpo then backs this up by quoting Acts: "Jesus was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dresses in white stood beside them. 'Men of Galilee,' they said, 'why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.'" (72-73)

I felt that this book was overall well-written for the audience it is trying to appeal to. This could include Christians of all ages who are curious about what happens after life on Earth. It was very easy to understand and was touching and inspiring, emotionally and spiritually. This novel is very effective in affirming Christian beliefs, especially the belief that as Colton says, "Heaven is for real." (154)

This book made me think more of Heaven than i usually do which says a lot I would recommend this book to everyone gives an amazing perspective and description of what this little boy saw in heaven lifted my spirit(:
