This book extols the simple pleasures of a gentle love. The kind of love that makes you want to put down roots. The kind of love that makes you change your mind. The kind of love that makes you want to push a stroller around the biggest mall in America. The kind of love where you take care of sick partners and sick kids. The kind of love where you bring your partner lunch. The kind of love where you make a date of picking up your drunk mom and her best friend. It’s a domestic kind of love and a realistically boring kind of love. This tracks entirely with Justin and Emma and their complex family situations, but it IS kind of boring. I read this book so fast (within 24 hours) but ended the book feeling like we skipped straight over romance to get to family.
Loved Maddie and honestly loved that we got to see Neil’s journey continue. It think it’s valid to acknowledge that therapy can help, but not necessarily fix a person.

Too sad. I thought it was going to be a lighthearted romance but was actually filled with a lot of hard topics that I just wasn't looking for. A good book I just am not looking for that type of book right now.
