Oh Ben, Ben, Ben. WHY YOU DO THIS?!

My heart with these two. If I had a therapist rn I would be sending you the bill. IMMEDIATELY

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC reader copy of this book. Now I adore Ben Alderson's writing so I was overjoyed.

The Darkmourn books are some of my favourite spicier fantasy books there are and this didn't disappoint. As someone who is healing from trauma myself this book struck a chord with me, and of course although I couldn't relate to everything Rhory dealt with, some quotes really stuck out of me.

"You need no one but yourself. There will come a time when you'll understand that others do not have the power to fix you".

This isn't my favourite Darkmourn book, but honestly I think that's just personal preference. I just prefer Fae more what can I say?

Overall I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to anyone looking for fairytales made gay (and spicy). As always, I am aware reviews may differ but honestly I just don't think it's in me to not enjoy something Ben writes.

I stumbled across the world of Ben Anderson earlier this year and can I say it was the best possible thing. Since discovering Ben’s books I’ve been obsessed and have read any and all I could get my hands on. So when the opportunity to read an early edition of his new book came I jumped at the chance.
This book is absolutely incredible. The writing style is amazing and has a flow to it that’s easy to follow. The characters are so beautifully written that you can fall in love with them effortlessly. There are so many twists and turns within the book that it has you guessing right until the last full stop.
Despite it being a stand alone it calls back to ‘Lord of Eternal night’ and ‘King of Immortal Tithe’ in beautiful and unexpected ways. I know I will be rereading this book for a long time.
A must read for all those interested in adult fantasy retellings.

I enjoy Ben's writing, it's always fun and - maybe - a little emotionally draining at times, lol. Nice read. Will probably read the other Darkmourn books as time goes on.
