Intriguing premise but did not feel connected to any of characters. Lots of exposition and fairly distant narrative voice which I thinks was purposefully done. But ultimately I was. It pulled in by the story and think it depended too much on premise and too little on story/character development.

The initial idea is thought provoking- how do people react if they knew the length of their lives; and how society reacts, and how we always try to divide.
The books resolves on a positive note, and a little too tidily for reality tbh. But the message is still a strong positive one, if not a little predictable. And they left the glaring plot hole of never explaining where the strings came from….

All the stars!!!! Love love LOVE this book! One of the best books that I have ever read. The fact that you can follow so many characters and yet it is easy keep who is who straight just shows how amazing the writing is. This book had me thinking how the world would really handle this situation, and I gotta admit that I think this book pretty much nails it.

I just think it got kind of boring for a chunk there. I liked the beginning and then it was neat to see how everyone ended up in the last few pages, but nothing really stuck with me that much. It was a fine read, and it was definitely in reference to the pandemic. A meh

this was fine. i don't remember who recommended this, but by the time i started reading i didn't have a clue what it was supposed to be about. not sure if it went where i expected, or what it was really trying to do. i liked the multiple POVs and how they tied together, and didn't find any character particularly annoying which was helpful. it didn't feel particularly inventive or original, and some parts
like ben and amie's death at the end
felt predictable. anyway, this was an easy read, but not sure i'll remember much of it.

Hoping to pick this one back up eventually. It's just bringing in a little too much real life for me now. When the vibe-reading stars align, I'll be back
