2.25/5 Dracula starts off slow, then picks up the pace, then slows to a crawl for the rest of the book.

My favourite part about Dracula was the last twenty pages or so of Jonathan Harker’s journal while in Dracula’s mansion. In my mind I thought that the entire novel would follow Harker as the main protagonist, but I was proved wrong when we were whisked away to his wife Mina’s dreadfully dull first chapters where she she spends pages and pages discussing the landscape, scenery and how worried she is about poor Lucy.

Although this is only a 400 page book, I found myself struggling to get through more than 10 pages a night.
I found myself struggling to finish this book so much that I was much more elated at the end of the book about it actually ending, than them killing Dracula. Stoker could have cut at least 150 pages out of this book with no consequence whatsoever to the plot or character development (of which there is none because the protagonists are all perfect from start to finish).

As one of the other reviews mentioned, this is not a horror book, it is a travel journal sprinkled with horror elements.

Overall, Dracula is well-written, slow-paced to the point where when I get to the good parts, I’m so fatigued from the story that I can’t enjoy them, travel journal.

FINALLY i have finished this book. it took me a while, but i'm glad i read it. i've seen complaints about the repetition, which i kinda get, but it worked for me because there would often be a large periods if time where i wasn't reading it that i needed the refreshers. also, not once before reading this book had i heard of quincey morris' existence and i think that's a crime, he deserves more respect!!

Ha sido una relectura en realidad. Este clásico me encantó la primera vez que lo leí y me ha encantado ahora. La historia me parece una fantasía y, como la primera vez, he disfrutado muchísimo de la trama de Renfield. Este libro confirma mi amor por los vampiros, jajaja.
