I love this book, it is quite an interesting story. The story is really beautiful, and for me, it is always a little sad. Hope you enjoy it!

Kiera Cass' 'The Siren' is a story following Kahlen, a young woman who during a ship wrecked is offered the chance to live. But its not a true life, in order to continue living she has to agree to be a servant to Ocean, a voice in her head claiming to be the life of the ocean, for 100 years. During those years she is immortal, can never get sick, does not feel hunger, heat, coldness, pain, needs no sleep. But when Ocean calls she and her sister sirens must go out into the water and sing to people, causing them to willingly dive into the ocean to not struggle and to die peacefully. Usually it's only one big killing a year and Ocean tells them that this sacrifice of a few is to save the thousands others who are still living. Also she and sister sirens can never use their voice, even for speaking in front of anyone other than each other because their voice is death for any person that hears it even if they are not singing their little death song.

It sounds cool and entertaining and something I would like to read, but reading it, its dull, boring, its not hard to get through, but its hard to not skim and quick read it. Theres very little depth to it. It's confusing, the girls have this devotion to Ocean and I don't get why, especially when it shows new girls coming in having a hard time and then it switches to them being sad and crying as they watch people die. Not once was I ever given a reason that I felt explained how any of the girls would want to do this, would feel any connection or devotion to Ocean. And then the near insta love, and such a love that it was enough to cause that deep of a connection, I think this just wasn't for me.

This book is full of romance, fantasy and self discovery. I love how the story is told from a sirens point of view because it just changes the way we think of mythical creatures. Kiera Cass shows us in her writing that everyone and everything has feelings and that everyone must do things they may not want to in order to survive. She also describes the strength of love and how it affects people in both good and bad ways. The romance in this book really makes you smile at how these two people care about what's deep down in one another.
Although this book talks about love from family, friends and soul mate, the real romance doesn't come in until past halfway through the book. If you are looking for a story with romance in every paragraph then this book may not be for you but it is good to start off your romance novel journey because it isn't very overwhelming.
A book that will give you the feels and also gets you thinking about the characters and if they are good, bad or different.
9/10 would recommend and read again!

Kierra Cass has this ability to write cute romances with no spice whatsoever - and I LOVE it.

The romance felt authentic and the plot was really really good. To be honest, the romance sometimes seemed a little childish or exaggerated, but it didn't bother me much. It was lovely.

A hauntingly beautiful, unique story, I loved this every bit as much on the reread. Though, I admit it is a fairly dark story, there is still such a sweet vibe throughout it, I can't help but love it.
