I really enjoyed this book. It had a very imaginative magic system, a likable heroine and a very entertaining mentor for her. The villains were detestable, yet their motivations made sense beyond just being "bad guys". All around, I'd say this is a very good fantasy novel. It's not as great as say George R. R. Martin, Robert Jordan, or Patrick Rothfuss, but it definitely gets my seal of approval. I'm a little disappointed that I've already purchased other books to read, because I'm now really looking forward to reading the second Mistborn novel.

One of those rare books that made me forget I was reading. Mistborn explores traditional fantasy tropes but does it with a lot of heart.

Aaa!
I never see the death of the mento coming which is super embarrassing, but I was literally just thinking to myself “wow i sure do like Kelsier” right before he died
This was so good, the magic is so cool, I really liked all the characters and the plot and I can’t wait to read the second book!
