How can these books be so long and seem so short!!

I’m so in love with some of these characters and some them irritate me, and over course some are down write evil!! I love Rainier and Emmaline so much. I really love Dawalt too. Cyran and Elora are okay, but they growing on me. Lavenia is the one I really cannot stand!! The rest are either “meh, alright” or downright evil. I love some of the dragons so much.

This is an amazing fantasy, with something always going on! There were some shocking surprises and I’d say this story definitely keeps you on your toes!

If you enjoy Romantic Fantasy with lots of adventure, Sword Fighting and DRAGONS!! Then you will love this series!! Check it out now! I’m looking forward to book 3!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this and really hope the third book comes out soon (even though there’s no release date yet). I absolutely loved that we got multiple POV’s in this book, especially Dewalt’s.

Dewalt remains my favorite character. I loved that him and Emma formed such a strong friendship after Rainier was taken. You could really tell how much he supported her and also how much he leaned on her as well.  His personality is the best and again, he claimed my favorite quote in the book.

“Listen, I am not a smart man. If I could shove my foot any deeper into my mouth, it’d shoot out my ass.”

I also surprisingly really liked Elora’s character. She was really spunky, seemed very mature for her age, and actually turned out to be quite the badass. She made reading a book with a child in it, dare I say, enjoyable. It was also really sweet seeing the relationship and bond between her and Rain develop. I typically abhor when a book has any sort of trope that involves parenting or children so the fact that I enjoyed that aspect of this book is a true testament to how well it was written.  Kudos to the author! Also, the interactions between her and Cyran were some of my favorite parts of the book.

And OMG the dragons!! They were the best! I loved that they all had such distinct personalities. It was hilarious when one of them tackled Rain and licked him all up his chest, neck, and face. And Rainier trying to make a dragon and ending up making a cat instead was equally hilarious. Irses reminded me of Abraxos in the ToG series.

The spice in this book also deserves an honorable mention. It has one of the hottest scenes I’ve read in recent memory and it wasn’t even between the main characters.

My only complaint is that while I did enjoy the tension and feels of Emma and Rain rebuilding their relationship and bond, it did get to be a bit repetitive at times.

The audiobook was very good. I really liked all the narrators. The guy voices of the female narrators left something to be desired, but I still really enjoyed it.

And I’ll close this review with my other favorite quote:

“I fell in love with her while showing her the stars, and I’ll love her until the last one falls from the sky.”

What an adventure! I love these two much!

Hella POVs in this one though, I didn’t hate it, but definitely a jump from 1.

Heavily explores trauma and PTSD, it’s nice to see it in a MMC rather than the FMC, because bros have feelings too ok!? ✅

Rain and Em are probably one of the cutest damn couples and watching Rain adapt to his role with Elora is so fkn cuuuute.

Dragons are pretty cool too 🐉

I thought I loved Between Wrath & Mercy…but then along came Between Despair & Hope and that was when I knew true love. The character development was absolutely top notch. The story is sooooooo good and brought on ALL the feelings. Especially the despair. Never has a title been more accurate with how it made me feel. The number of gasps and expletives I let out while reading is a little ridiculous. And true to the title there was also some hope threaded in there, so now I cannot wait for Between Fear and Favor to release. I need more.

NEED the next book NOW

There was a little too much “obsessive love” in this one, but I really enjoyed this second book. Can’t wait for the third!
