This was such a fantastic story! I read it aloud to my kids at bedtime and we all loved it. It has a sort of Lemony Snicket feel to it. An epic adventure with lots of twists and turns! I think this book would make a fantastic movie too!

This was such a fun, magical, dystopian-ish read.

Good middle grade/high school read. A brother and sister must protect the Book of Stolen Dreams which has the ability to bring back the dead. Quick paced.

This debut children’s novel from a very well known film, TV and theatre writer was a wonderful delight from start to finish. 10/10 to the designers and illustrators who created its gorgeous look and feel and well done to David Farr for a thoroughly engaging story with enough twists and turns to keep even the most fidgety kid glued to the pages! I’m glad there is another book about the two main characters, Rachel and Robert, to come because if I had any complaints it would be that I wanted to spend more time with them!

Without giving too much away I did find it odd that a great part the climax of the story is told via a news source rather than through the character’s eyes but I think that will appeal to children who are used to reading short snippets of ‘news’ these days thanks to their devices!

The story reminded me of other favorite middle grade books, but this one didn't have the light heartedness that I look for. Not recommended for highly sensitive young readers.
