While there were moments I genuinely enjoyed, Offside didn’t fully hit the mark for me.
First off, the pacing dragged and the book felt unnecessarily long, which made it harder to stay invested in the storyline. It wasn’t a bad story, just not particularly original, and I struggled to feel truly hooked.

One thing I really didn’t like was the constant use of their surnames, especially during intimate scenes, it made everything feel less personal.
That said, I did like Chase’s character. The classic reformed fckboy arc isn’t new, but his soft, protective side when it came to Bailey was sweet and probably my favourite part of the book. Some really tender moments made me smile—he showed up for her in ways that felt genuine.
As for the plot twists near the end... they had potential, but I wish they'd been developed more consistently throughout the story. Instead, they felt rushed, like they were thrown into stir up drama rather than deepen the narrative.

Meh…Just another hockey romance. 3 stars because I did find myself shipping them and smut was good, but could have been 200 pages shorter, I started getting bored. Also why are we describing the hockey game in great detail, yes it’s a hockey romance but I don’t actually care about hockey obviously???

3.5 out of 5: Antagonists to more. I did love Chase's patience with Bailey's insecurities while she encouraged him to care more for school. I loved the spice with their flirting. While I did enjoy the real hockey moments and plays in the book, but it was missing my favorite part of hockey romances which is the found family feeling mixed with team banter. There was miscommunication mixed with a small third act break up. The pacing did feel overall slow and while I liked this book, I don't know if it is enough to pick up the next one.

This was enjoyable, but probably 25% longer than it really needed to be.
A hockey romance that actually has hockey in it?! But love it!
Bailey is dumped on her 21st birthday by her boyfriend, Luke. That same night, at a night club with friends, she meets rival school hockey star, Chase Carter. She wants to hate him — but she can’t. He took care of her when she got way too drunk.
Chase may be a playboy hockey player, but with Bailey he is different. He is smitten. Because of her being friends with him, it causes a rift with her “friends.” I didn’t feel like they were true friends.
Chase is a great book boyfriend. He’s honest with Bailey even if it comes out harshly. He is very protective of Bailey , too - especially with her ex-boyfriend. They have awesome banter and flirtatious times. Plus, their steamy scenes are pretty hot.

I really enjoyed this romance. It’s well over 500 pages but I never felt like there were slow parts.
