The Clans band together and prepare to leave the forest but many of the cats are captured by Twolegs. While rescuing the captured cats, one well liked character is taken away in a monster. The questing cats return to the forest shortly before the Clans leave and they guide the way to the Tribe of Rushing Water. One cat chooses to stay with the Tribe and Crowpaw receives his warrior name.

Book #3 in the new Prophecy feels a bit like a placeholder for the series. There is great action in the rescue of clan cats from the two leg place and the eventual decision to heed Midnight's prophecy to leave the forest, but there are about 100 pages of clan indecision that feels like padding to the only logical path forward. The point of view perspective for this book is. Squirrelpaw so it is fun to watch the story unfold through her perspective, especially because she is so young and did not live through everything the clan leaders lived through in the first series. All in all still really enjoyed it and excited to jump into book #4
