I really enjoyed this book. My only complaint is that the build up felt like it took to long.

This was a really interesting and complex fantasy! The beginning was so fascinating to me. I loved the inclusions of saints and such, it just seemed really old world and intriguing. Artemisia (love that name by the way) was a complex and likeable mc for me and I loved her relationship with the Revenant, it was quite funny at times! Where I started to get lost was the middle and I didn’t know what was going on for a time. A lot of new characters were introduced and I wasn’t sure what “side” they were on and it just seemed muddled until the very end. The Joan of Arc vibes were there though and I loved that! 3 stars! ✨

Almost didn't finish it but glad I stuck with it!

Still remember the author's twitter post, saying it has Bloodbourne vibes and that still holds true. So if you like sword wielding nuns, Joan of Arc, Bloodbourne, skeletons, and bejeweled catacomb saints you'll like this book.

I just love Rogerson’s characters. I especially liked the subtle way she wove panic attacks/anxiety/borderline agoraphobia into her main character of Artemisia.
I think the titles of all the spirits/what they did was slightly confusing to me but I discovered there was a chart in the back after I’d already finished.

I'd happily watch a rom-com starring Artemisia and the revenant!
