This book is only bearable because of the wallflowers themselves. The hero is infuriating at worst and meh at best. I was so close to DNFing but I managed to at least skim through most of the last third. I’m glad I read the ending if only to see Westcliff have a redemptive moment.

I read it again!! I don't really know why, I just really enjoy this book and I must have reread this at least 3 times by now (my second most reread after [b: Scandal in Spring|105574|Scandal in Spring (Wallflowers, #4)|Lisa Kleypas|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1452549904l/105574._SY75_.jpg|101766]!) Just love the two main characters and going back to the Wallflowers makes me feel like I'm in familiar territory again, alongside Annabelle, Lillian, Evie, and Daisy. This series is definitely my favourite historical romance and I can almost guarantee that I'll be rereading it again before long! 4-4.5 stars (again my fave is still Daisy's book but this is a close second!
I have such a soft spot for this one. I think this was the first historical romance I'd ever read, probably a few years since I've last picked it up. At any rate it was the first historical romance which I can recall. The whole 'Wallflowers' series is just so great and I love Kleypas' writing. This isn't my favourite one in the series, I think that was the second one with Lillian but I'll need to reread that too to make sure

Not for me. The characters felt thin. I did not particularly care for either of them. Both don't have a lot of drive or personality. They sort of exist in the world.
The book could have ended like 100 pages sooner but it continued for far longer after. I think this is because they could not have sex until they married because it is a historical romance. The problem is the plot is already thin and once they get together it becomes pointless.
I don't have much to say about this one other then a great big meh?

Wallflower meets her match
This is a typical romance novel. Lisa Kleypas does an excellent job of making the reader feel emotional attachment to the female characters. I also appreciate Kleypas diction & plot devices. While the story is not complicated it is satisfying

When I think “we have 30% of this book left and we’re already married…” I know I’m in for some romance reasons plot lines at the end. I admit I’d already read this book before (I’m pretty sure I read this entire series in the span of a few days) but I was still enamored of all the places where the story goes exactly where I hope it will.

This just really scratched an itch for me. Love Lisa Kleypas, love a “he wants her to be his mistress but she’s Too Proud” plot, love gal pals.

This series has been recommended time and time again. I finally dig into it, and I’m very happy that it’s worth all the praise! Annabelle was a little grating at first, but she and Simon played off of each other really well.
