4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is the best novella I have ever read and I want more of Vale and Lilith.

WHAT AN AMAZING NOVELLA!! I hope we get more of their story.
1) considering it was a novella, so much happened
2) it was fast paced but ran over a good few months and that balance was done perfectly
3) vale + lilleth = <3
4) I can’t wait to get into their story again!!

A nice little short story about one of the minor characters from The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King by Carissa Broadbent.

Six Scorched Roses by Carissa Broadbent — ★★★★☆

How Carissa managed to pack so much heart, tension, and intrigue into a novella is beyond me. In such a short span, she built a compelling story that left me craving more. The friendship between the main characters was the real gem—organic, layered, and steadily deepening in a way that made every interaction meaningful.

It doesn’t feel rushed despite its length, and yet it still leaves you hungry for the bigger picture. I’m hoping future books tie this thread back in, bringing everything full circle.

Excited to see how this novella ties into the series. I lit fit the universe, was compelling, and I followed the whole thing. Excited to read the next book :)
