This is the perfect cozy mystery to get you in the Holiday Mood. Holly White has returned home to Mistletoe, Maine after cancelling her wedding. Her parents own and operate Reindeer Games a Christmas Tree Farm. There are twelve days until Christmas and the Reindeer Games are getting ready to begin. The head of the local Historic Society has been causing trouble all over town. When her body is found on the farm Holly sets out to solve the murder. The local Sheriff is a transplant from Boston who is determined to solve the murder and keep Holly safe. The mystery was good, lots of suspects and red herrings, and the solution made sense. The town and characters are a lot of fun. There is a lot of Christmas, Cookies and Hot Chocolate. Enjoy

Technically, I giving this 3 1/2 stars until Goodreads gets with the program.

I'm not sure what to make of this one. I enjoyed reading every moment, but the mystery could've been a little better. I liked the small-town setting and the overall world-building. The descriptions were detailed, but not too over the top. Holly and Evan's chemistry was a highlight for me. I wouldn't have minded if the slow burn between them went until at least the sequel, but I still adored them. I didn't find the pacing too slow or too rushed. Moments were delving into getting to know the characters, but the events concerning the mystery weren't too far behind.

Overall, I found myself more intrigued by the town of Mistletoe and its traditions than by the mystery, yet I couldn't put it down and I want to read more.

I didn't want to give this one 5 stars because of what it is...a cozy mystery. Then, I realized it is a great cozy mystery. The characters pulled me in. I was invested in the what happened to them. It is everything great about cozy mysteries. A little mystery, sometimes a little romance, friendships, families, good people...etc. I didn't want to put this down and it made me want to visit Mistletoe. It would make a great Hallmark Christmas movie...if you're into that type of thing. I needed some Christmas cheer in my life right now, and this provided it. If you're looking for a gritty novel full of angst, gore and drama, this isn't for you. If you're looking for what a cozy mystery should be, this fits the bill perfectly.

After a few Christmas romance books, a cozy Christmas mystery book was the perfect read. I loved the setting of a Christmas tree farm, and really enjoyed all the Christmas activities they hosted. The characters were great, and reading this felt like returning to a favourite series. I never guessed who the murderer was, so this definitely kept me on the edge of my seat - can't wait to read the next one!
