Oh boy, what do I say.

I started this book with a lot of expectations. A sapphic monster romance based in the most interesting historical times of my country? COUNT ME IN. I feel like I struggled a little throughout the story together with the author to fully grasp what she wanted to say. The first/middle chapters were quite repetitive, to a point of being annoying. Especially the ones from Marynka's point of view. It matched her character but was a little too much at times. The last 1/4 of the book tho... I'm so glad I didn't let the annoyance keep me from continuing. I felt totally immersed in the story, finally! Even if I knew from the start where it was going, the journey was totally unexpected and thrilling. I need more books like this, not only from Jasinska, but especially from her! One of my new faves, for sure.

I happened to stumble across the day it released, and I immediately knew I had to have it. Like this book literally has everything I love. Enemies to lovers? Yes. Sapphic? Hell yeah. Okay I feel like there's more but these two are the most important ones.

I really enjoyed this story, but it was almost predictable in a sense. My predictions actually didn't happen, which I felt was mildly surprising, but I was okay with it. But the book didn't absolutely blow my mind like I feel it should have, but I still enjoyed it a lot!! The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because of that lack of jaw dropping ending, and the history/politics were a bit confusing. Luckily the author's note at the end clarifies it a bit more, but not much since it only served as inspiration. Luckily it was fairly easy to ignore and still understand the story. If you read it, you'll know what I mean!

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and am hoping we get to see more of these amazing characters <3
