The two perspectives really hindered my reading experience, which is the major reason I rated it so low. The two Carmillas (the first-person voice and the outside view) felt very different from one another, which made it feel like neither was the true character.

I love the book and the premise, but some characters were inconsistent. The ending was also very abrupt.

Although I don't think I enjoyed this quite as much as A Dowry of Blood I still had a lovely time reading this. I love dark academia and I love vampires, and this was a beautiful combination of the two. As before, Gibson's writing is beautiful and the characters in this story are so well written. And I particularly loved the relationship between Laura and Carmilla and getting to see how it evolved.
