The Library Book

Really, really lovely.

Loved it. Really interesting and very thorough. Can’t wait to visit the LA library to imagine the history.

This book contains almost everything I want to know and some things I don’t want to know, about libraries, arson, library arson, and the history of Los Angeles.

Would have liked more focus on the LA library, how they recovered and restored their massive collection. Could have done with less tangents. But overall I liked this ode to one of my favorite places on earth.

Read as part of my October challenge (from Amy) to read books with the word Library in the title.

It definitely got more interesting the more I read.

Not sure how I made it through.. I was bored majority of the time. But I like books so I powered through and learned some new information.
adventurous fast-paced

I enjoyed her research and the way she develops her story. She is a very skilled writer.

I almost let this book go back to the library (it's overdue and there are holds) but I'm so glad I continued. I even set aside my fiction book (I read fiction when the current non-fiction gets tedious, or too much to absorb or whatever) to keep reading The Library Book. Susan Orlean is a great writer and when the subject is books and libraries and the people who run them and the people who use them . . . well, I'm hooked. Really enjoyed this!
