Her husband is a serial killer but the question is did she know?
I just finished reading "The Accomplice" by Steve Cavanagh and I have to say, it was an incredibly addictive read. From the moment I picked up the book, I was hooked. The story is centred around the Sandman killings, which have already been solved. The killer Daniel Miller has vanished, but now his wife Carrie is on trial as his accomplice. Everyone, including the FBI, the District Attorney, and the media, believes she knew about her husband's crimes and helped cover them up.
Enter Eddie Flynn, a lawyer who only takes cases where his client is innocent. He and his team are the only ones who believe Carrie is innocent, and they have to prove it to the jury and the world. But that's not all - former FBI agent Gabriel Lake is also involved, with a personal vendetta against the Sandman. He believes that everything the FBI knows about serial killers is wrong and is determined to catch the Sandman himself.
The plot is full of twists and turns, keeping readers on the edge of their seats from the first page to the last. As the trial progresses, the Sandman is forced to come out of hiding to save his wife, and everyone involved in the case becomes a target. The book is a page-turner, with Cavanagh's writing style making it easy to become fully immersed in the story.
But what got me was the ending. I don't want to give anything away, but let's just say that it was a total shocker. I had my jaw on the floor. It was one of those endings that made me want to go back and re-read the entire book to see if I could pick up on any clues I missed!
5 star read for me - highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good legal thriller.

Eddie Flynn has never disappointed. Steve Cavanagh knows how to write a book which is easy to follow and easy read when going between different characters.
His main accomplishment though is always keeping the book 3 steps ahead but not leaving you feeling stupid for not seeing different details.
You just simply enjoy the ride.
